Venkateswara | Lord Tirupati Balaji
Venkateswara | Lord Tirupati Balaji
Venkateswara, the Destroyer of sins, the one who takes away troubles. Lord Tirupati Balaji is the epitome of prosperity, success and wealth. This timeless beauty is a classic depiction of meticulously selected stones and is superimposed with 24 karat gold. Lord Venkateswara is adorned with multitude of ornaments.
Symbolism and Significance
It is believed that he is one of the avatars of Lord Vishnu in the Kaliyuga to relieve humanity of all its despair. Since the Lord himself transformed into a stone, the idol is considered to be extremely powerful.Often referred to as the richest god, Srinivasa or Balaji, such is his stature as the most powerful Lord who grants sincere wishes of his devotees.
1. Eyes (Gaze)
Lord Balaji's wears a white Tilak that is so huge to cover the eyes. It is believed that the Lord's eyes carry immense supernatural light that people cannot just withstand. It is also said that the Tilak is used to cover the third eye of the ideal which is very powerful. The gaze coming out of the eyes of Lord has such powerful radiation that they are covered to reduce the effect.
2. Tilakam (Tilak)
Tilakam on Balaji’s forehead is ‘V’ shape which implies the capacity to hold, a container, a field to nurture. The ‘bindu’ with tail and dropping into ‘V’ signifies the “Life Force’ being dropped into the field to get nurtured. The ‘V’ shape and the dropping ‘bindu’ together signifies that Balaji holds the life and the humanity. The tilakam is on forehead which is the centre of ‘agna cakra’ in the human body and usually the main attraction in the human structure.
3. Shank/Conch
In the painting we see the ‘Shanku’ on left shoulder of Balaji in Hindu tradition left is used for denoting the given things, thus ‘Shank’ is part of natural given things. Shank is considered as the auspicious instrument.
4. Chakra
Chakra is nothing but a wheel which is the original technological invention. If there is no wheel, there is no progress. The wheel symbolizes the cyclic nature of things and the nature itself. Thus using Chakra signifies the use of technology and discovering the nature to its core.
